The Purpose of the LLND Test

Dear Students,

You have been enrolled in the Language, Literacy, Numeracy, and Digital (LLND) test program, which is a mandatory requirement to complete ideally before the commencement of your qualification.

The LLND test may take up to three (3) hours in total. Please note that this is not an academic exam and is not part of your course. Your results will not affect your grades, academic standing, or enrolment status in any way.

The purpose of this assessment is to help the College understand your current language, literacy, numeracy, and digital skills. The information gathered allows us to identify any learning support you may need throughout your studies, ensuring you receive the right assistance to succeed.

Important Reminders

  • Take your time. Do not rush through the test.
  • Answer all questions carefully to provide an accurate reflection of your current skill level.
  • Do not copy from others or use online resources.
  • Do not seek or accept help while completing the test.

Before starting, please read the INSTRUCTION PAGE carefully. You will have only one attempt at the test.

After completing the test, we encourage you to visit the FEEDBACK PAGE to share your comments and suggestions about your test experience.

We wish you all the best.

INSTRUCTION – READ BEFORE YOU START

The Language, Literacy, Numeracy, and Digital (LLND) test may take up to three (3) hours to complete in total.

The test assesses the following skill areas:

1. Listening – Approximately 30 minutes

  • The listening section includes 2 to 3 parts.
  • Before each audio, you will have time to read the instructions and questions carefully.
  • Each audio recording will play once only.
  • There will be about a one-minute pause between instructions and conversations in each audio.

2. Reading – Approximately 1 hour

  • The reading section includes 1 to 3 passages, varying in length and difficulty.
  • Questions may include multiple choicematching, or fill-in-the-blank formats.

3. Writing – Approximately 30 to 40 minutes

  • The writing section consists of 1 or 2 tasks.
  • You will receive prompts, topics, or tips to guide your writing.
  • Each task will have a time limit and word requirement specified in the instructions.

4. Numeracy – Approximately 1 hour

  • The numeracy section is available only for selected qualifications.
  • If it does not appear on your test page, it means it is not required for your course.

5. Digital Skills – Approximately 1 hour

  • The digital section is also available only for certain qualifications.
  • If it does not appear on your test page, it means it is not required for your course.

Before You Begin

  • Test your audio device using the sample recording below before starting the Listening section.
    • You will have only one attempt at the test.
    • The sample recording is provided solely to check that your device and browser audio are working correctly.
  • In the actual test, audio will play automatically. To ensure this works:
    • Check and enable your browser’s autoplay settings.
    • Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge are recommended browsers.
    • Firefox and Safari are not recommended as they often block automatic audio playback by default.

Important Reminders

  • Do not click “Next Page” until you have completed all questions on the current page.
  • Do not refresh, close, or navigate away from the test window once started.
  • Ensure you are working independently without assistance from others or online resources.
